We received several notifications of this design yesterday; here is what Robert Owen from Timberwise shared:
We think this is local service ads because others spotted this and local SEOs said it looks like them.
What are Local Service Ads?
Local Services Ads by Google help you connect with people who search on Google for the services you are offering. Your local business ads will show up for consumers in your area, and you only pay if a buyer contacts you directly through this ad. Your ads appear on Google when local buyers search for your services. Be there when they need you most. Local customers who search and find your products or services on Google can contact you directly. So, you can book local jobs to help fill up your calendar. Google adding query and location search box in the local search pack can certainly enhance user experience.
Small local businesses are often at a disadvantage when advertising in service verticals. They do not have deep pockets to hold off big-name brands and continually pay huge click costs for high-volume and highly-competitive keywords. Depending on what service industry you want to advertise, you can often expect to pay $5, $10, $15, or more per click for such highly sought-after search terms. Those costs are usually not feasible for so many small local businesses unless they can maintain an extraordinary and almost impossible conversion rate.
Google realized this reality and, in 2018, started offering a solution for small local businesses to try and level the playing field through Local Services Ads. Google is bringing lot of updates to local service ads such as Browse by Products and Browse by Store, Vehical Ads, Higher price and Lower Price Icons, and more.
