Why Google Reduced Irrelevant Search Results?
Google continually makes improvements in Google Search. The year 2021 was the last time Google claimed it had made over 5,000 enhancements to the search interface and ran more than 800000 tests. In 2020, Google disclosed that it had made 48877 changes to its search engine.
Google's new features and innovations are designed to improve the quality of search results and their relevancy. Google claimed that the reduction of 50% in search results that are irrelevant over the last seven years was measured on internal metrics based on quality rating data. There isn't a reliable source for this measurement, however, these are internal measures Google utilizes to determine the quality of its results.
Natural language queries
Another Google metric shows more than a 60% rise in people entering queries in the Google search box. This metric uses natural language for calculation which is fascinating. Google claimed that they've "seen that people's search queries change."
They said,
“Since 2015, we’ve witnessed a greater than 60% growth in natural language searches in the search engine. If you’re writing your content the way people typically write and speak, you’ll perform well in Google Search. This implies that users can locate what they want more quickly and in a language similar to writing and talking.”
We could count on Google for its time constant changes. Google has made changes to improve the quality of the search and its relevancy. This means that the standard to rank your website high on SERPs continues to be elevated.
SEO and search have evolved in the last 25 years. The shortcuts to SEO success are not easy to come across nowadays. Focusing on delivering the most effective user experience and quality content is the way to get success in 2022.
