What is the URL parameter tool?
The URL parameter tool was launched in 2009 as a parameter handling tool, a mode to communicate to Google to ignore specific URLs or combinations of URL parameters. After two years, in 2011, Google upgraded to a tool to handle numerous parameter scenarios.
Google said,
“We’re deprecating the URL Parameters Tool in the Search Console in a month.” Google said that there was “no obligation from people who use the service at present.”
Google claimed that it was not often used, but only 1%. They wrote,
“Over time, Google became much better in identifying what parameters are relevant to the site and which are not. About one percent of the parameters specified by the URL Parameters tool is useful to crawl. Because of the poor impact of the tool on Google or Search Console users, we’re eliminating this tool within one month.”
