Google has added auto-tagging to those of you who use FREE Merchant Center products for improved monitoring of your paid listings and free listings. In this announcement, Google said, “you’ll be able to observe your conversions from the free product listings, by linking the properties of your Merchant Center and Google Analytics property.”
Google further added, “This will allow you to measure the impact that the Merchant Center product data,”
Linking Ga4 and Merchant Center
As Universal Analytics is going away next year on July 1, 2023. Google seems to be creating a way to connect the Google Analytics four properties to Google Merchant Center. Here’s a screenshot of the Merchant Center option under the product links in GA4:
How to Link Google Analytics 4 with Merchant Center?
If you already have a Google Analytics (GA4) property, then you can connect this directly to the Merchant Center account. Google stated that you’d need to activate auto-tagging to make this feature work.
