Google Analytics real-time reports lagged in some metrics in Universal Analytics 3 and Google Analytics 4. As per the search engine giant claims, Google has fixed Google Analytics Latency issues twice, but site owners still claim that the reporting is slower than normal.

The Google Analytics Latency Issue was Observed

The issue started around a week ago, on April 5th-6th. Google claimed that the issue was resolved on April 7, 2022, but the problem remained until today. You can also find this issue tracker thread that includes many of the reports Google received about this issue.

What was the Google Analytics Latency Issue?

Google Analytics' real-time reporting was in the news recently for being slow. Google confirmed this on April 7. They said, "we have become aware" of a problem. This was where Universal Analytics had an issue with the Realtime reporting interface, and the interface might have displayed incomplete results or no data. Google stated that they have solved the problem.

Yesterday, April 11, Google announced another status issue with Google Analytics. It stated that "we are investigating reports of an error with Google Analytics, and we'll provide more information soon. Users affected by this issue can access Google Analytics but may be receiving error messages, high latency, and/or other unusual behavior. GA4 reports might appear empty or fail to load. Some said the error only happens in views with filters applied. The problem doesn't persist when it comes to the raw data views; the problem doesn't persist.

Problem Still Persists

Though as per the claims, Google has fixed Google Analytics latency issues, you may still face the problem. You are not the only one who noticed strange or "off" reporting in Google Analytics, GA4, and UA3; you're not alone. Although Google claims to have fixed the issue, we still see reports that the reports are incorrect. We do not know the implications of this if you are running the Google Analytics UA tracking code parallel to the new GA4 code. This is important to remember if your boss or clients ask for recent metrics and analytics.
