Google announced the Google Trusted Store Badge a few weeks ago, and it seems that it is now fully live as of a few days ago. If you click on that badge, it will also tell you why the store is trusted.
Brian Freiesleben saw it roll out yesterday and tweeted about it on Twitter. Here are some screenshots for Google Trusted Store Badge.

What's a Google Trusted Store Badge?

Google Trusted Store badge is a digital tag that Google gives to exceptional customer service businesses. To earn the badge, sellers must meet Google's highest standards for shipping and returns.

Why Do We Need It?

Every day, online shoppers discover new brands. However, before they spend their money, they want to be sure they buy from a company they trust. Google has introduced the Shopping Experience Scorecard program to reward merchants who provide excellent customer service and build their reputation with potential customers.

For example, merchants that deliver exceptional shipping and returns services may be awarded a badge to indicate they are a Google Trusted Store. This badge will appear beside their free product listings on The Shopping Tab. Google awards the Trusted Store badge based on the merchant's performance relative to other merchants awarded. This includes shipping speeds, return costs and return windows.

Their early testing shows that merchants with a Trusted Store badge have a higher chance of receiving clicks and more traffic to less-known local merchants.

Google seems to have taken a great initiative to validate local shops to improve their performance and provide a safer shopping experience. This may offer brands and retailers the much-needed extra edge. It will help them understand how shoppers find them. It will also shed light on what shoppers want and what they're browsing for. Using these new Google product reviews and local search features, merchants price their products more competitively and boost sales.
