You can check out examples of this in the wild for queries such as clothing recycling near me or battery recycling. Here is Google gives an example.

How to Add New Recycling Attribute Google My Business?

You can apply this new attribute to your local Google business profile. Log into your Google Business Profile account, click on the info tab, and select attributes. You can choose the recycling attribute and save it to your profile if you see the recycling attribute. If you do not see it, your business category may not support it for your local business.

Please note:

  • Few Google attributes are only available in specific countries or regions or to certain business categories. For example, depending on the business type, you might find the latest attribute options for acceptable payment types, accessibility options, or whether the company is LGBTQ+ friendly.

  • Google may show different attributes’ names over time to better match how people search for businesses.

Any icon or label you can add to your Google search listings may help enhance your overall click-through rates, and it can also potentially drive more customers, traffic, and quality sales to your business. So try to add all the right attributes to your local listing to achieve those icons and labels in your Google Maps and Google Search local listings.

How does this New Attribute Help Businesses?

As explained by Google:

“By adding the new recycling attribute to Google My Business Profiles, local shops can showcase their recycling services in just a few clicks. These services may include electronics, plastic bottles, or glass bottles. As a result, people looking for “battery recycling near me” can more efficiently locate a local business on Search with the in-store recycling they need. Ultimately, adding these details to the Business Profile can help these local businesses stand out.”

Google further states that ‘recycling” has become a highly popular search topic. While supporting eco-conscious brands is crucial for around 82% of customers who view sustainability as a top priority.
